Machu Picchu Gallery of the Americas, Est. 1974, presents: A&COTA/ART and CULTURE OF THE AMERICAS EXHIBITION

Rediscovering our Ancient Civilizations to the Explosion of the Present: A Journey of Identity, Wisdom, and Innovation by over one billion people (Latin America 652. 28 million, US 332.278 million, Canada 38.6 million. Total population: 1023.158 ) in the Americas.

San Jose, CA - Machu Picchu Gallery of the Americas proudly presents a groundbreaking art exhibition, "Rediscovering our Ancient Civilizations to the Explosion of the Present." Curated by visionary founder Olga Enciso Smith, this extraordinary event aspires to illuminate the rich heritage of the Americas, captivating the vibrant souls of Silicon Valley and beyond.

In 1492, humanity's history was forever altered when Christopher Columbus set foot on the shores of the American continent. In the 1500’s when the Europeans arrived this pivotal moment marked the encounter of three majestic civilizations that left an indelible mark on the world: the revered Incas reigning over most of South America, the awe-inspiring Mayas flourishing in Central America, and the illustrious Aztecs reigning in what is now Mexico.

Behold the awe-inspiring marvel of Inca walls, masterpieces of precision, defying the ages with tons of weight skillfully balanced upon stones without the need for cement. Witness the indelible ingenuity of the Mayas, who unlocked the enigma of "0," a numerical revelation that would shape the very foundations of modern mathematics. In these ancient cultures, we find a source of boundless inspiration, a testament to the human spirit's endless quest for knowledge and its relentless pursuit of architectural splendor.

The exhibition invites visitors to rekindle the legacy of these great civilizations. As descendants of these civilizations strive to grasp the significance of their ancestors; we see the influence of these ancient civilizations through collective identity, and we witness the explosion of rediscovery in the present time.

Let us stand in admiration, humbled and proud, as we honor the legacy of these great civilizations, for their contributions have woven a tapestry of wisdom and wonder that continues to enrich our world, resonating with the echoes of time and filling our hearts with pride in the heritage of the Americas.

The special exhibition features our own gifted local visual artists. Some artists include Emmanuel Cervantes, Eddie Ramirez, Willie Beat, Michael Rogan, Sean Magic Gil, and many more. To enrich the experience, the opening ceremony will showcase Indigenous works from the Huicholes of Mexico, ceramics and textiles from the Shipibo of the Rainforest of Peru, and Mayan textiles from Guatemala, South American singers, and bilingual poetry.

Join us as we embark on a journey through time, weaving together the tapestry of our magnificent history, heritage, and creativity. A&COTA/ART and CULTURE of the AMERICAS, 2023 EXHIBITION "Rediscovering our Ancient Civilizations to the Explosion of the Present" is an invitation to celebrate our collective past, our present, and forge a bright and awe-inspiring future together for a better world for all and for our future generations.
